ZhaoyuanOnline Tutor

Zhaoyuan is a multilingual (English, Mandarin, French and Thai) teacher who has 3 years of experience in classroom Mathematics teaching and 6 years of experience in Mathematics group and individual tutoring back in Singapore. Currently residing and teaching in France, Zhaoyuan specialises in Singapore Secondary Mathematics. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Statistics and Applied Probability from the top university in Asia, National University of Singapore (NUS). She also carries a Postgraduate Diploma in Education with Credit (Specialisation in teaching at Secondary School level) from National Institute of Education (NIE) Singapore, which is currently ranked 2nd in Asia.

Zhaoyuan believes in encouraging students to learn actively through questioning and problem solving. Teaching will be focused on developing understanding, critical thinking and the ability to ask questions and seek answers and solutions. Students are guided in their thought process to solve problems so as to nurture a curiosity that goes beyond the formal curriculum, and a love for learning that stays with the student through life.

Zhaoyuan uses a three-step learning process, namely, concrete, pictorial, and abstract in most of her teachings. Where direct interaction with students in classrooms is possible, students engage in hands-on learning experiences using concrete objects such as chips, dice, paper clips or even lego blocks. For online tuition sessions, this step is replaced with representations of mathematical concepts via drawing or visual aids. Students then solve mathematical problems in an abstract way by using numbers and symbols.
